He always had a word to say
He captured us in rhyme
But now the Master Architect
Has called to Ed, “It’s time.”

As Annie’s Husband, he was known
By Masons far and wide
It started as a little joke,
But she was always by his side.

He had a joke for everyone
He had a special style
And when it came to helping out
He went the extra mile.

Despite his health he went to see
His brothers in the Craft
He was too weak to stand for long
But still he had a laugh.

And his health didn’t slow him down
There were other things to do.
Like making sure that prayers were said
For a Brother in ICU

Our poet laureate isn’t here
He’s in a better place
No more pain or hardship there
And many a friendly face

His rumbling voice and ready wit
Were welcome in the Hall
But we know he’ll use them well up there
To answer the Master’s call.

So, next time St. Peter pens a line
Or a friendly note he  jots
He just might get a little help
From our Brother, H. Edward Potts.
